Biography

Mary Anne Cohen is a professional psychotherapist since 1972 and director of The New York Center for Eating Disorders. She is author of French Toast for Breakfast: Declaring Peace with Emotional Eating (Gurze, l995, Spanish edition, 1997). She has hosted her own radio show on eating disorders in New York on AM and FM radio. In addition, Ms. Cohen has authored a series of self help tapes on resolving eating problems that has sold internationally.

Ms. Cohen has also appeared on national television and lectures extensively to professional and community groups. She has served on the Board of Directors of The Eating Disorder Council of Long Island and is a member of the National Eating Disorders Association.

Her professional associations include the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the Society of Clinical Social Workers, she is a Diplomate of the National Association of Social Workers, and Board Certified by The American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.

Ms. Cohen maintains a private practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn and supervises and teaches other professionals. She currently writes a column on eating disorders for The Brooklyn Journal and Image Magazine.
